Guest Operations - National Aviary (Work-Study Required)

This position is off campus and will be paid at $15/hour. 

Organization: Guest Operations / National Aviary

Job Description: 

As a member of the Guest Operations Department, Work Study students will have the opportunity to learn about the important role that earned revenue plays in nonprofit cultural organizations through exposure to sales operations and hospitality. This work study student will have the opportunity to assist in a variety of duties tailored to their personal goals. Duties may vary from day to day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Growing a vibrant membership program by helping the Membership Coordinator with key projects to engage and retain members
  • Optimizing retails sales by assisting the Manager of Retail Services with daily retail operations in the gift shop including receiving and ticketing merchandise
  • Growing revenue by assisting with the curation and promotion of the Aviary’s online gift shop
  • Streamlining guest experience by helping with the implementation of a digital waiver system
  • Ensuring an excellent guest experience by assisting the ticketing check-in process and line management for general admissions, encounters, groups, and events’
  • Keeping play spaces and high engagement areas clean and tidy for guest enjoyment

Job Qualifications: 

  • An interest in learning more about Business, Marketing, Communications, Sales, Hospitality, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Experience in visitor-facing roles (i.e. retail, reception, baristas, etc.)
  • A friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with guests and team members
  • Great attention to detail – especially in regards to verbal communications and record keeping
  • Willingness to learn POS and CRM systems and follow pre-established operating procedures

Act 153 (National Criminal database, Statewide unified court criminal search, federal district court)
